Deputy Superintendent Acevedo with staff at PK School

It was one of those times that reminds us exactly why staying connected matters so deeply. Deputy Superintendent Amber Acevedo traveled up and down the Keys this week — starting with classroom visits at Key Largo School, where students were engaged, curious, and full of that spark we love to see.

From there, she spent time with administrators at Plantation Key School, talking through the incredible work happening on their campus and the ways we continue strengthening communication and collaboration across our district.

The day wrapped in Marathon at a large ESE meeting, surrounded by dedicated educators and support staff who pour their hearts into ensuring every student has what they need to thrive. Their commitment is inspiring.

Every stop reinforced the same truth: when we stay connected, communicate openly, and lift each other up, our district rises. And the work happening in our classrooms every single day is nothing short of amazing.

Proud of our teams. Proud of our students. Proud of Monroe County Schools.
