The Monroe County School District shares the sad news of the passing of John R. Padget on September 22, 2026, at the age of 89.

Mr. Padget served our community in many roles, including Superintendent of Monroe County Schools, and was a dedicated advocate for students throughout the Keys. His support through the Golden Fleece Foundation and his commitment helped expand opportunities and strengthen pathways for countless young people.

We were proud to recognize him several years ago as a Community Gem, honoring his major contributions to our students and schools. His belief in the potential of every child left a lasting impact on our district.

Our thoughts are with his family all who knew him.
