The Monroe County School District announces the retirement of Executive Director of Operations Patrick Lefere, who’s distinguished 13-year career with the district has left a lasting impact on students, staff, and schools throughout the Florida Keys.

Following a stellar military career, Lefere brought exceptional leadership, dedication, and operational expertise to MCSD. Throughout his tenure, he oversaw a wide range of essential district services, including transportation, food services, maintenance, construction, technology, and safety and security.

Under his leadership, the district successfully completed numerous major capital projects, including the rebuilding of Plantation Key School and Gerald Adams Elementary School, as well as the development of the Key West High School backyard and Tommy Roberts Stadium complex. He also guided significant advancements in safety and security, as well as in student services and technology, including the expansion of the district's bus fleet with onboard Wi-Fi and the implementation of one-to-one student devices across the district.

"Mr. Lefere's ability to successfully manage multiple departments while keeping students' needs at the center of every decision is a testament to his dedication, professionalism, and extraordinary work ethic," said Superintendent Ed Tierney.
