This week, Gerald Adams Elementary is focusing on Habit 3: Put First Things First!
This habit is all about making positive choices and focusing on what matters most. It helps students learn to manage their time, stay organized, and make decisions that support their goals.
What does this look like for students?
Sometimes it means choosing what is most important—even when there are other fun options!
Example:
It’s a summer afternoon… Do you play a video game or read a book?
Putting first things first means making the positive choice to read and grow your mind first, then enjoy other activities later.
Tips for Putting First Things First:
Do homework or reading before screen time
Make a simple daily plan or schedule
Take care of responsibilities before play
Stay focused on your goals from Habit 2
Reward yourself after finishing important tasks
When students put first things first, they build strong habits that lead to success in school and beyond!
Stay tuned as we continue growing as leaders—one habit at a time!
