Congratulations to Monroe County School District’s 2025–2026 Principal of the Year — Mr. Darren Pais of Key Largo School!
Mr. Pais is being recognized for his daily presence on campus, his strong relationships with students and staff, and his creative leadership that continues to elevate both academics and extracurricular programs. Under his guidance, Key Largo School earned an A rating, reflecting the school’s commitment to excellence.
From greeting families in the car line to visiting classrooms, reading to students, and attending nearly every school event, Mr. Pais leads with visibility, heart, and purpose. He has expanded athletics, performing arts, robotics, aerospace, and advanced coursework — giving students more opportunities than ever before to discover their strengths and shine.
Superintendent Edward Tierney shared, “Darren brings an energy and presence to Key Largo School that lifts the entire community. His creativity, visibility, and commitment to excellence make him an outstanding Principal of the Year.”
