College and career readiness

Monroe County Schools offers a rich, student‑centered educational experience designed to open doors and expand futures. Across the district, students can pursue multiple pathways to success through Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment, and—beginning in the 2026–2027 school year—AICE courses at Key West High and Marathon High.

The Cambridge AICE program provides a rigorous, internationally recognized pre‑university curriculum that strengthens college readiness and global competitiveness. Alongside these academic options, students can explore high‑interest Career and Technical Education pathways that connect learning to real‑world skills and future careers. Counselors will guide each student through course selection to ensure their schedules reflect both academic goals and personal interests.

Our middle and elementary schools continue to prioritize individualized scheduling, acceleration, and opportunities that nurture potential from an early age. Families are encouraged to stay connected with their child’s school for upcoming curriculum showcases and parent information nights taking place over the next two months—important moments to learn about the many opportunities available in MCSD.
