  • The Federal Programs Office for Monroe County School District manages many Federal grants.  Federal Programs Office is located at 241 Trumbo Road, Key West, Florida 33040.  Staff for the Federal Programs Office commit to support schools ensuring equity and engagement for all students and families, especially those otherwise disadvantaged.

ESSA - Every Student Succeeds Act

  • On December 10, 2015, the President of the United States signed into law the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).  ESSA's focus is ensuring success for all students and schools.  

    Some ESSA provisions supported by the Federal Programs Office include:

    • Upholding critical protections for America's disadvantaged and high-need students
    • Requiring all students be taught high academic standards preparing college and career readiness
    • Measuring students' progress of those high standards through annual statewide assessments
    • Supporting and growing local innovations--including evidence-based and place-based interventions developed by local leaders and educators
    • Increasing access to high-quality preschool
    • Maintaining accountably and action to effect positive change in our lowest-performing schools
