📢 Welcome back, KLS families! We hope you had a wonderful spring break we’re excited to see everyone tomorrow! 💚
Say Something Week kicks off tomorrow and runs March 23–27. This important initiative helps students recognize when someone may need help and encourages them to speak up to a trusted adult.
Throughout the week, students will participate in age-appropriate lessons focused on belonging, empathy, and looking out for one another:
What to expect:
K–4: Lessons on belonging and empathy
5th Grade: Recognizing warning signs
6th–8th Grade: Say Something presentation (homeroom)
Students will also take a pledge and complete activities that may be displayed around the school.
💚Thursday, March 26 – Wear green to show support for safety, hope, and helping others.

📣 Attention 8th Grade Families!
On Monday at 2:30 PM, Coral Shores will be presenting to our 8th graders about next year’s course selections and high school requirements.
Families are welcome to attend! Please arrive between 2:15–2:25 PM and bring your ID to check in at the front office.
We also highly recommend attending the Wednesday evening showcase at Coral Shores for students and families to learn even more about what to expect next year.

🌟✨ KLS Aftercare Is Underway — And Spots Are Still Available! ✨🌟
KLS Aftercare is off to a wonderful start, and we’re excited to share that enrollment is still open! If you’re looking for a safe, structured, and welcoming place for your child after school, we’d love to have them join our growing Aftercare family.

Our program runs daily from 3:30 PM (immediately after dismissal) until 5:30 PM, providing students with a supportive environment to relax, socialize, and transition smoothly from school to home.

💲 Weekly Rates
• $55 per week for one child
• $45 per week for each additional child

📌 Program Requirements
✔ Must be currently enrolled at Key Largo School
✔ Must be self-sufficient (able to feed themselves and fully toilet-trained)
✔ Students must follow program rules and maintain safe behavior

📣 Spots are currently available, but space is limited!
We’re excited to continue growing the program and welcoming more students into our Aftercare community.

District Staff Supporting Students Through New Superintendent Initiative Monroe County School District is launching a new effort—One Team, One Goal – Student Success—to further strengthen the support our students receive each day. Beginning this week, members of the district staff from all departments will spend up to two hours each week in classrooms working directly with students.
District staff have been trained in strategies that reinforce key Language Arts skills and will work alongside teachers to support individual students and small groups. Each school has identified specific areas of need, and this additional layer of help is designed to boost student confidence, engagement, and academic growth.
We are excited to bring more caring adults into our classrooms and to deepen the connection between district departments and the students we serve. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to ensure every student thrives.

For students: Use this or some form of it to notify your students about the initiative:
One Team, One Goal – Student Success
Starting this week, you may see new faces in your classrooms! As part of Superintendent Tierney’s initiative, One Team, One Goal – Student Success, district staff from all departments will be spending up to two hours per week in schools, working directly with students in small groups or one-on-one. Their goal is to support your learning, help you build confidence, and contribute to your success. These staff members have been trained in strategies that reinforce Language Arts and math skills and will work alongside your teachers to provide extra help where it’s needed. Key Largo School Tornado Football – Offseason Training

Key Largo School is excited to offer offseason football training for students interested in joining or developing their skills with the KLS Tornados Football Program.

This program is open to all Upper Keys students in grades 4–8 and focuses on building strength, speed, agility, and fundamental football skills in a supportive and structured environment.

Program Details:

Location: Key Largo School

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 5:30 PM

Start Date: February 10

Eligibility: Upper Keys students, grades 4–8
