Students and staff at Key Largo School had an exciting opportunity to look to the skies as Mr. Leffler flew over campus as part of the Civil Air Patrolβs Teacher Orientation Program (TOP) Flight. Departing from Marathon Airport, the flight traveled east over the Florida Keys and included a planned pass over Key Largo School.
During the flyover, aviation students and other members of the KLS community gathered outside to watch the aircraft pass overhead and wave to Mr. Leffler as he flew above the campus. The flight also provided a chance to capture aerial photos of the school and students on the field.
This experience was especially meaningful for our students because Key Largo School offers an Aviation Program, which introduces students to the fundamentals of aviation, flight, and related STEM careers. Opportunities like this help connect classroom learning with real-world aviation experiences and inspire students to explore future pathways in aerospace and aviation.
The Civil Air Patrol Teacher Orientation Program is designed to help educators bring aviation concepts into the classroom and spark student interest in aviation and STEM fields.
Key Largo School is grateful for the partnership with Civil Air Patrol and looks forward to continuing to inspire the next generation of aviators. βοΈ
