Mrs. Garcia and Mr. Pais

Key Largo School is proud to announce that it has been officially designated a Guy Harvey Conservation School for the 2025โ€“2026 school year, recognizing the schoolโ€™s ongoing commitment to environmental education, conservation, and community stewardship.

The Guy Harvey Conservation Schools program honors schools that demonstrate excellence in environmental education through professional development, experiential learning opportunities, and environmental stewardship initiatives. This designation places Key Largo School among a distinguished network of schools dedicated to protecting marine and terrestrial ecosystems while inspiring future conservation leaders.

โ€œBecoming a Guy Harvey Conservation School reflects the passion and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff,โ€ said Principal Darren Pais. โ€œLiving and learning in the Florida Keys gives us a unique responsibility to protect our environment, and this designation strengthens our ability to provide meaningful, hands-on conservation experiences for our students.โ€

As part of the program, Key Largo School will receive several benefits that enhance learning opportunities, including eligibility for experiential learning field trip grants, early access to Guy Harvey Foundation educational resources, and opportunities for student participation in conservation-focused initiatives. The school will also receive a Guy Harvey Conservation School plaque and community recognition for its dedication to conservation education.

This designation empowers educators and students to deepen their understanding of environmental stewardship while inspiring the broader community to take action in protecting natural resources.

Key Largo School looks forward to expanding its conservation initiatives during the 2025โ€“2026 school year and continuing to promote environmental awareness, stewardship, and leadership among its students.
