2027-2028 FBC-LEO Essay Scholarship Contest
The Florida Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (FBC-LEO) invites eligible high school juniors and seniors to participate in the 2027 Essay Scholarship Contest.
Essay Prompt:
In 750 words or less, discuss a historical figure, movement, or milestone that has shaped you as a person. Support your ideas with examples and explain how that legacy lives on and what it means for your future.
Eligibility & Entry Requirements
Applicants must be 11th or 12th grade students residing in an FBC-LEO member municipality during the 2026-2027 school year.
Essay must not exceed 750 words
Essay must be typed or legibly printed (no cursive or pictures)
Use of AI, ChatGPT, or similar programs is strictly prohibited
Submit a professional/senior headshot and biography
Include a completed entry form with your essay
Previous contest winners are not eligible to apply

December 11, 2026
