🌟 Leader in Me – Week 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood! 🌟

This week, Gerald Adams Elementary is focusing on Habit 5! 👂💬

This habit teaches students the importance of listening first. Before we share our thoughts, we take time to really understand what others are saying.

💡 What does this look like for students?

Listening without interrupting
Paying attention when others are speaking
Asking questions to understand better
Showing respect for different ideas and opinions
📚 Summer Example:
A friend wants to tell you about a book they’re reading. Instead of interrupting, you listen carefully and ask questions—then share your own favorite book after.

✨ Tips for practicing Habit 5:

✅ Listen with your eyes, ears, and heart
✅ Wait your turn to speak
✅ Ask questions if you don’t understand
✅ Respect others’ ideas, even if they are different
When students practice listening first, they build stronger friendships and become thoughtful, respectful leaders. 💙

🎉 Keep growing as leaders—one habit at a time!
