list of kindergarten kickoff event dates

Monroe County School District is proud to welcome families of rising kindergarten students during Kindergarten Kickoff, April 20–23—a special districtwide event designed to help children and parents begin their school journey with confidence, excitement, and connection.

Kindergarten Kickoff offers families the opportunity to visit their zoned elementary school, meet teachers and staff, complete registration, and learn more about what makes MCSD schools a safe and supportive place for young learners to thrive. The event is designed with families in mind, creating a welcoming environment where questions are answered, relationships begin, and students take their first steps into a lifelong love of learning.

MCSD’s kindergarten program focuses on strong early literacy skills, hands‑on learning, and the whole child. Students benefit from caring, highly qualified teachers, enrichment opportunities such as art, music, and STEM, and access to comprehensive support teams including counselors, nurses, and social workers. These early experiences lay the foundation for long‑term academic and personal success.

Families attending Kindergarten Kickoff will gain important information about school routines, expectations, and resources available throughout the year. Most importantly, children will have the chance to see their new school, helping reduce first‑day jitters and create excitement about the year ahead.

Kindergarten Kickoff will take place April 20–23 at all Monroe County elementary and PK-8 schools. Families with children who will be five years old on or before September 1 are encouraged to attend.

Monroe County School District looks forward to welcoming its newest students and partnering with families to make kindergarten a joyful and successful beginning.
