Learning about our freedoms

Our middle school Social Studies teachers are teaming up with our Literacy Coach, Mrs. Osborn, to bring reading and writing alive across the content areas!

By integrating literacy strategies into Social Studies lessons, we’re helping students deepen their understanding, build academic vocabulary, and become stronger thinkers and communicators.

From analyzing primary sources to paraphrasing complex texts and engaging in meaningful discussions, students are developing the skills they need to succeed across all subject areas — and in life!

Huge shout-out to our dedicated teachers and our Literacy Coach for working together to support student success. Collaboration makes us stronger!!

In the picture, Mr. Osborn’s civic students are collaborating to develop their gallery walk posters representing the Five Freedoms of the First Amendment! Tomorrow students will be participating in their very own gallery walk and discussion during class, paraphrasing the Five Freedoms, deepening the understanding of the Five Freedoms of the First Amendment.
