students visiting booths at college fair

Marathon High School students had the opportunity to explore what comes after graduation without ever leaving campus during the school’s annual College & Career Fair on Monday, Sept. 28.

Representatives from 29 colleges, universities, technical programs, military branches and local career organizations gathered at MHS to give students a firsthand look at the wide variety of paths available after high school.

Students in grades 9 through 12 attended the fair throughout the afternoon, giving them the opportunity to speak directly with representatives about college admissions, scholarships, programs of study, technical and career training, military service and employment opportunities.

While graduation may still seem distant for younger students, the event was designed to encourage all high school students to begin thinking about their futures early. Freshmen and sophomores were able to explore potential careers and learn what education or training those careers require, while juniors and seniors could ask more specific questions about admissions, financial aid, scholarships and programs they may soon pursue.

The variety of organizations represented also emphasized that there is no single path to success after high school. Students could explore traditional four-year universities alongside colleges, technical and career programs, military opportunities and local career options.

Events such as the College & Career Fair are part of Marathon High School's ongoing effort to help students connect their high school education with future goals and make informed decisions about life after graduation.

With 29 organizations gathered in one place, students were encouraged to visit multiple representatives, ask questions and explore opportunities they may not previously have considered.
