Twelve members of the Marathon High School Marching Band, known as the Pride of the Florida Keys, traveled to Boca Raton on Sept. 12 to participate in the ninth annual FAU Band Day.
The MHS musicians joined high school band students from across the region for the special event, rehearsing alongside the FAU Marching Owls before taking the field together for a halftime performance during the Florida Atlantic University football game against the Navy Midshipmen.
The experience gave Marathon’s student musicians an opportunity to perform in a collegiate stadium environment while working alongside members of a university marching band. After a day of rehearsals, the students joined the Marching Owls on the field to showcase their talents before the FAU crowd.
The Pride of the Florida Keys returned home with a memorable performance under their belts and a firsthand look at the excitement, preparation and teamwork involved in a college game-day performance.
