Marathon High School students joined a worldwide effort to raise awareness about suicide prevention on Sept. 10 as Champions for Change partnered with Guidance Care Center, Inc. to observe World Suicide Prevention Day.

During fifth period, students viewed an educational video, participated in classroom discussions and completed a reflection activity focused on the importance of suicide prevention and awareness.

World Suicide Prevention Day is an international observance intended to increase awareness that suicide can be prevented, reduce stigma surrounding the topic and encourage open conversations about mental health and suicide prevention.

The Sept. 10 activities are just one part of MHS's efforts to bring attention to the issue. Suicide prevention and awareness activities will continue at the school throughout September.
