Five Marathon High School Champions for Change members and youth leaders had the opportunity to attend CADCA’s Mid-Year Prevention Training Institute this summer in Orlando. This intensive training provided students with valuable knowledge about current prevention trends and evidence-based strategies that they can bring back to Marathon High School and the Marathon community.

In addition to participating in the training, Adriana Calvo, a Marathon High School Class of 2026 graduate, Champions for Change member, and Monroe County Coalition Youth Leader, was selected as the 2026 youth speaker for the conference’s opening session. Adriana addressed more than 3,000 prevention professionals and youth prevention leaders from across the country. Having been involved in drug and alcohol prevention efforts since eighth grade, Adriana represented Marathon High School and Monroe County with confidence, passion, and professionalism. Adriana shared the stage with White House appointed Drug Czar Sarah Carter, United States Senator Ashley Moody, and other top professionals in their field.  She did an amazing job and made us all incredibly proud.

The Champions for Change members attended CADCA Mid-Year alongside their sponsors, Martina Belotti, Prevention Specialist with WestCare, Inc., and Dr. Christina Belotti, Marathon High School Leadership and AVID. The experience provided students with leadership development opportunities and strengthened their commitment to promoting healthy, substance-free lifestyles in their school and community.  MHS students in grades 9th-12th grade interested in joining Champions for Change or finding out more should contact Dr. Belotti at christina.belotti@keysschools.com
