Marathon High School is celebrating a major milestone after officially earning a 94% graduation rate, marking a 10.7 percentage point increase from the previous year. The achievement was formally recognized this week by Superintendent Ed Tierney, Dr. Christina McPherson, and Deputy Superintendent Amber Acevedo, who commended the school’s faculty and staff for their exceptional work on behalf of students.

In addition to the overall graduation rate increase, Marathon High School also posted significant gains among its Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and English Language Learner (ELL) populations, underscoring the school’s commitment to equity, high expectations, and intentional student support.

“These numbers represent far more than data points,” said school principal Christine Paul. “They reflect perseverance, collaboration, and a deep belief that every student can succeed when surrounded by adults who refuse to give up on them.”

School leaders credited the achievement to the daily dedication of teachers, support staff, counselors, and administrators, whose long hours, problem-solving, and teamwork have created a culture where students are supported academically and personally.

“This recognition belongs to the entire Marathon High team,” Paul added. “The work happening in classrooms, offices, and hallways every day is truly life-changing for our students. I am honored to serve alongside such a student-centered and committed group of professionals.”

Marathon High School will continue building on this momentum as it works to support all students in reaching graduation and postsecondary success.
