Marathon, FL — November 15, 2025 — Marathon High School is celebrating an incredible achievement as student athletes Cindy Augustin and Alex Chavala traveled to Orlando’s ESPN Wide World of Sports to compete in the Special Olympics Powerlifting Competition on November 15th—returning home as gold medal champions.
Both Cindy and Alex showcased remarkable strength, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the competition, earning gold medals in their respective events. Their performance reflects months of hard work and dedication, both in training and in representing the Marathon community on a state stage.
Adding to the excitement, Coach Cathy Warner was honored as the Inspirational Coach for Monroe County, recognizing her leadership, encouragement, and commitment to her athletes’ success.
“We are incredibly proud of Cindy, Alex, and Coach Warner,” the school shared. “Their perseverance and passion embody the very best of what it means to be a Marathon Dolphin.”
