We are proud to announce the launch of the Health Information Project (HIP), a student-led health education initiative designed to promote physical, emotional, and social well-being among freshmen.
The program, which consists of eight interactive sessions, focuses on prevention, knowledge, and resource-sharing to ensure that all students have the tools they need to make healthy, informed choices. Some topics covered include relationships, nutrition, substance awareness, bullying, and mental health.
What makes HIP unique is its peer-led structure. Upperclassmen take on the role of health educators, guiding freshmen through open discussions and activities that encourage trust, understanding, and empowerment. This model not only builds confidence in student leaders but also creates a supportive environment where freshmen can relate to and learn from their peers.
“HIP ties perfectly into our Leader in Me Program,” said Cathy Warner HOPE/PE teacher of Marathon. “It gives students a voice, fosters leadership, and helps shape a positive school culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.”
The program’s first week has already seen enthusiastic participation and engagement from both the student leaders and the freshmen class. As HIP continues throughout the semester, the school anticipates a lasting impact on student wellness and community spirit.
