Mr. Driscoll’s middle school STEM classes put their knowledge to the test this week with a hands-on project that combined science and s’mores. After several lessons on solar energy, conduction, radiation, and heat transfer, students designed and built their own solar ovens as part of a unit on renewable energy.
On October 16th, the classes took their creations outside for the ultimate test—using sunlight to cook s’mores. The activity gave students a fun, memorable way to see scientific principles in action while reinforcing their understanding of how solar energy can be used as a sustainable heat source.
The result? Melted chocolate, gooey marshmallows, and a lot of excited young scientists.
