Treasure Village Montessori

The members of the TVM Board of Directors (The Board) formulate the mission statement for our Montessori program and are dedicated to the implementation of the mission and goals outlined by the various school committees. The Board is also charged with stewarding and strengthening Montessori school programs and services, enhancing the school's public standing, ensuring legal and ethical integrity and accountability, recruiting and orienting new board members. Other responsibilities include, selecting and collaborating with the Principal to provide adequate and competent resources, and to ensure and promote effective organizational planning and monitoring for the exemplary delivery of a quality Montessori program education. Treasure Village Montessori School's Board of Directors is responsible for raising funds to cover the additional costs required to fund a charter school program; like those of securing and maintaining appropriate facilities. The Treasure Village Montessori School's Board of Directors engages in regular, scheduled events that raise funds to support this cause. They also review policies and procedures to ensure that the short and long term goals, of our charter school, along with the mission statement are being met. The Board usually meets at the school the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings are open to the public and the meeting schedule is posted on the school calendar.​

Jack Vandelaar

Mr. Jack Vandelaar is a Captain with US Airways on the Airbus 300. He also teaches as an Adjunct Professor for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Science and his Masters degree in Aeronautical Education and Management - both from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was raised in Anchorage, and is proud to be a father of three very intelligent, strong girls. His youngest daughter is a TVM student. Jack and his wife, Jana, embrace the Florida Keys’ unique “treasures” and believe Treasure Village Montessori perfectly exemplifies how extraordinary gifts are found when individuality is encouraged. Although traveling is a huge part of their lives, both have actively participated in fundraising efforts from the beginning of their daughter’s education at TVM. As a Board member as Jack hopes to “help make a powerful school even stronger.” Jack joined the Board in 2013.  ​




Narelle Prew, Chairman

Originally from Australia, Narelle began her career in Sydney as a liaison officer with AAP/ Reuters. She spent many hours on trading floors training traders on financial information packages. Narelle transferred to AAP’s IT Department as a trainee computer operator, later becoming a shift supervisor. Narelle moved to London, England, in 1989 and contracted for Credit Suisse First Boston’s IT Department in London’s West End for 3 years. She then spent 6 months in Johannesburg, South Africa, as Sales Co-Ordinator for RTT (South Africa’s largest privately owned transport company).
Narelle returned to England and worked in IT recruitment, again in London’s West End. Narelle moved to Key Largo in 1995. She assisted in opening and operating The Gift House, and later helped transform the gift shop to what is now The Fish House Encore Restaurant. She enjoys being a full-time mom to two children whom attend TVM. Narelle joined the board in 2013.​

A native of the Keys, Shawn Burchfield is an Accountant at Baptist Health South Florida. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Shawn has significant experience in financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and budgeting & management operations. Prior to becoming an Accountant, Shawn worked in the real estate industry and as a Promotions Director for Clear Channel Communications. Shawn’s daughter has been a student at TVM since VPK. She believes that parental involvement in the learning process can improve learning outcomes.She joined the board in 2015.​

Rosie Donnelly

Rosemary Donnelly is a Reserve Portfolio Manager for Southern Wine and Spirits. Prior to working for Southern Wine she worked for the Florida Keys Restaurant Management group, as the General Manager for several restaurants in the Keys. Rosemary and her husband moved to Key Largo from Banff Alberta Canada in 1996, where they both were in the Hospitality Industry. Rosemary and her husband Buck, own a global spice company. They also produce a Key's cooking show, airing on local television. Rosemary was born and raised in Ontario Canada and is a graduate of Lakehead University, with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She is a certified sommelier, and a certified Spirts Specialist. Both of her children were introduced to Montessori school programs at a very young age, and have found TVM to be a perfect fit to further their academics.​
