These “Fish for Holly” shirts will be worn by ALL Lady ’Canes athletic teams to help raise awareness about domestic violence. We proudly honor Holly’s legacy by educating our school and community and promoting appropriate responses. We are deeply grateful to the Holly Given Fund for its significant support of Coral Shores’ Lady ’Canes athletic programs.
This significant announcement was made prior to the March 26 contest against Lourdes Academy.
Holly Given, a 2010 graduate of Coral Shores High School, was a standout three-sport athlete in volleyball, soccer, and softball. Widely regarded as one of the top athletes in school history, her success on the softball field earned her a scholarship to Western Carolina University. Holly was known for her vibrant spirit, love of the ocean, and the deep bonds she shared with family and friends. She left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
At just 26 years old, Holly tragically lost her life to domestic violence while preparing to leave an abusive relationship. In her memory, the Fish for Holly Sailfish Tournament was established and has grown into one of the largest sailfish tournaments in Florida. Proceeds support women’s causes, raise awareness of domestic abuse, and help work toward its prevention.
Coral Shores is honored to partner with the Fish for Holly Foundation in support of our Lady ’Canes athletic programs. Today, our teams proudly wear purple in remembrance of Holly and in support of the ongoing fight to end domestic violence.
Final: The Lady ’Canes edged Lourdes Academy 3–2. Lourdes entered the game with a 9–1 record and a state ranking.
