Sunshine State Scholar Jack Bridger

Superintendent Tierney announced that Jack Bridger, an exceptional scholar from Key West High School, has been selected as the Monroe County School District’s Sunshine State Scholar for 2026!

Jack’s brilliance in math, science, and problem-solving is unmatched—he’s aced the math portion of the PSATs with a perfect score four times and excelled in numerous AP STEM courses. His dedication and leadership make him a shining example of academic excellence.

Deputy Superintendent Amber Acevedo and STEM/Science Coordinator Donna Tedesco notified Bridger on Friday of his selection. His mom, Julie Bridger, KWHS Graduation Coach, was on hand for the surprise announcement. Congratulations and cheers went up from students and staff alike as Jack is an active leader on campus as well as a standout in the classroom.

Jack will represent our district in Orlando this March, joining top STEM juniors from across Florida to explore future opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

We also celebrate our school-level Sunshine State Scholars:

  • Harlee Beeler from Coral Shores High School

  • Caden Pitcher from Marathon Middle/High School

We’re so proud of these outstanding students and their bright futures ahead!
