Principal Brian J. Desilets

    Mr. Brian Desilets earned a Bachelor of Arts-History degree from Keene State College and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Maine. During his career, he decided to learn more about the business aspect of schools and successfully completed his Masters of Business Administration and his Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from Plymouth State College. He is currently on track to complete his Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Plymouth State College in 2023. Desilets began his professional career in education operating a program that worked with high school dropouts, assisting them in earning their GED and attaining employment. This led to a 10-year teaching career as a middle/high school social studies teacher and athletic coach. He credits his ability to connect with students as a major contribution to his success in the classroom and on the playing field. His passion for education continued as he moved into administrative roles, including four as a principal and eight as an assistant principal, with one of the assistant principal positions also including athletic director responsibilities. He brings experience implementing programs that promote student engagement, positive school culture, and academic success to HOB.

Assistant Principal Marissa Means

    Marissa Malone-Means is an accomplished educator with 17 years of experience in the field. With a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Florida, she graduated with honors from the College of Education. Marissa began her teaching career in Hillsborough County Schools, where she honed her skills and passion for shaping young minds. Throughout her career, Marissa has made significant contributions to education in Monroe County, where she has served for the past 9 years. Her expertise spans both the elementary and middle school levels, allowing her to connect with students of various age groups and tailor her teaching methods to their specific needs. In pursuit of professional growth and leadership opportunities, Marissa earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. This degree equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to take on administrative roles within the education system. Marissa's diverse experience includes serving as a new teacher, mentor, academic coach, interventionist, media specialist, and MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) coordinator. In 2021, she took on the role of district STEM & Strategic Health curriculum coordinator, where she played a vital role in shaping curriculum standards and ensuring academic excellence across multiple schools.

     

Assistant Principal Scott Meier

    Mr. Scott Meier started with Monroe County School District October of 2016.  Prior to joining MCSD he was employed by the School District of Philadelphia for 24 years as a teacher and Assistant Principal.   He holds a B.S. in Education (Temple University) and an M.S. Ed. In Educational Leadership (University of Pennsylvania) and holds certifications in teaching (K-12) and Administration (Elementary Principal). He enjoys all outdoor activities and spending time with his family. 

Assistant Principal Nanette Murray

    Nanette Murray is an experienced educator who has served as an elementary and middle grades math teacher as well as a K-8 math coach during her 16-year career with the Monroe County School District. She has served at Horace O'Bryant School and is familiar with the students and the families and is looking forward to returning in her new capacity as assistant principal.
    Murray has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Psychology from Bridgewater State College and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Administration from Florida State University. She has excelled at working with the curriculum including the new BEST standards, executing IEPs for successful instructional delivery, and participating in AVID and MTSS training.

     

Assistant Principal Dana Ring

    Ring has an extensive background in many areas, bringing a high level of educational expertise to her new role. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Physical and Health Education/Sports Management from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of University Studies in Elementary Education from the University of Maine. She earned a Master's in Literacy from Mount Saint Vincent University and a Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Maine. During her 23-year career in education, she taught Preschool, elementary and served as a Literacy Coach. Her responsibilities have included leadership roles as a planning team member and a member of the HOB Avid Team, modeling instruction for teachers, providing data analysis for school improvement, and assisting with school discipline.

Horace O'Bryant School
