Congressman with school board, accepting check

Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez joined Monroe County School District Superintendent Ed Tierney and local officials for a formal check presentation ceremony celebrating the securing of $3,000,000 in federal community project funding. These funds will support the design and construction work needed to restore the Historic Reynolds School where the ceremony was held.

This restoration marks a critical step in the District’s long-term strategic plan, paving the way for the development of much-needed affordable workforce housing on the Trumbo property.

Superintendent Tierney was joined by School Board members Darren Horan, Yvette Talbott, and Sue Woltanski. Also in attendance were Mayor Dee Dee Henriquez, City Manager Brian Barroso, County Commissioner Jim Scholl, and KWPD Captain Bradley Lariz.

This investment represents a significant milestone for both the school district and the broader community as efforts continue to preserve local history while addressing essential workforce needs.
