Dana Portillo, School Health Coordinator for the Monroe County School District, was recently honored as the Florida School Health Coordinator of the Year at the Florida School Health Association Conference in Orlando. Portillo attended the conference alongside Yvonne Gallardo, health technician at Horace O’Bryant School.
This prestigious statewide recognition reflects Portillo’s exceptional leadership and her vital role in supporting school health services across the district. She works closely with nurses at every school, leads key health initiatives, and ensures students receive high-quality care. Her dedication to student well‑being began during her years as a nurse at Key West High School, and her expertise, compassion, and commitment now benefit the entire district.
We congratulate Dana Portillo on this well‑deserved honor and celebrate her outstanding contributions to school health in Monroe County.
