CSHS Student Nathaniel Shugarman is the MCSD Sunshine State Scholar

Nathaniel ShugarmanCoral Shores High School student Nathaniel Shugarman represented Monroe County as our Sunshine State Scholar for 2025 at this year's Sunshine State Scholars conference held in Orlando. Nathaniel was one of 112 of the state's most outstanding 11th graders in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). 

 

Nathaniel has demonstrated notable achievements in both math and science, earning perfect scores on his AP Calculus exam in both ninth and tenth grade. This year he took Calculus III online through the University of Florida and he became the first person from CSHS with a perfect score on the AP Physics exam. 

 

In other notable accomplishments, Nathaniel studied Particle Physics at Duke University during the summer of 2022, Quantum Physics at Brown University during the summer of 2023, and Physics of the Atomic Nuclei with the US Department of Energy in Lansing Michigan. At the State Science and Engineering Fair in 2024 he was a regional winner as well as a state finalist.  

 

"We are proud of Nathaniel's accomplishments to date," said Superintendent Theresa Axford. "I expect he will continue to perform at a high level during his Senior Year at Coral Shores High School and as he moves into the future."
