School District helps out hurricane damaged schools
The Monroe County School District this week donated two truck loads of excess furniture - including desks, chairs and tables - to Pinellas County Schools that were damaged during Hurricanes Helene and Milton in September and October of last year. That district suffered severe flooding and devastating damage to a number of their schools during those storms.
Pinellas County School District sent down two semi-trucks to haul the much needed furniture.
"We recently replaced some of our furniture in our schools and we had the older furniture in storage. We are happy to help a district in need; in the Keys we all understand what it is like to go through recovery after a major storm event," said Superintendent Theresa Axford.
