On Thursday the HOB Advanced Band participated in the District 20 MPA.  MPA stands for Music Performance Assessment, and it is the state test for bands.  The Band performed 3 prepared pieces for 3 judges and received a Superior Rating from all 3 judges.  The group then went into the sight-reading room where their director, Mrs. Hendricks had 3 minutes to teach them a March and 5 minutes to teach them an Overture that none of them had seen before.  After teaching the songs the group had to play the song as written.  The group received a Superior from this judge also.  The middle school band from HOB was the only middle school band to receive all Superiors, with only 4 bands total (3 high school) receiving Superior markings.  The District includes all on Monroe and the private schools around Miami Dade.
