National Center for Homeless Education Parent Resources
The McKinney Vento Act states the definition of ‘homeless’ includes: Children of families who have lost housing and now live in a shelter, motel/hotel, vehicle, campground, on the street, doubled-up with family or friends, or in another type of temporary or inadequate housing. If you, or a friend, are experiencing this type of situation, please reach out to a teacher you trust, or one of your school counselors, so that we may support you and connect you with resources. We can ensure that you receive services such as free breakfast/lunch, school supplies, clothing, transportation to and from school (when we are back in school), and other related services.
