Marathon High School Senior Serena Steele Named 2025 Gates Scholar
Marathon, FL — Marathon High School is proud to announce that senior Serena Steele has been selected as a 2025 recipient of The Gates Scholarship, one of the most prestigious and competitive scholarships in the nation. Serena is one of just 750 students chosen from a pool of over 48,000 applicants nationwide.
This honor places Serena among an elite group of students recognized for exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to community service. The Gates Scholarship provides full financial support for the cost of attendance at the college of her choice, beyond what is already covered by financial aid and expected family contribution.
Principal Christine Paul shared, “We are incredibly proud of Serena and all she has accomplished. She represents the very best of our school community, bright, motivated, and committed to making a difference. Her selection as a Gates Scholar is a testament to her hard work and dedication.”
In addition to financial support, The Gates Scholarship offers a variety of enrichment opportunities, including leadership development, mentoring, career guidance, wellness resources, and access to a national network of fellow scholars and professionals.
Serena will also have the opportunity to attend The Gates Scholarship Summer Institute, a multi-day conference designed to connect the Class of 2025 and prepare scholars for college and beyond.
Marathon High School congratulates Serena Steele and her family on this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to following her journey and all the success that lies ahead.
