Marathon junior Justin Lopez was recently honored for his stellar academic achievements. The Sunshine State Scholar Program is a prestigious scholastic  opportunity provided to each district in the state. Monroe County is invited to nominate one 11th grade STEM student for this prestigious award to travel to Orlando in April with their parents to participate in a two-day celebration. The students will network with like-minded STEM students with aspirations for college STEM majors, be connected to Florida employers in the STEM fields, attend workshops for college applications with Florida colleges and universities, attend informational sessions for college funding, and receive accolades from the Commissioner of Education.
