    Teacher of the Year

    Holli Roberts

Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara is pleased to announce the Monroe County School District Teacher of the Year, Ms. Holli Roberts. Ms. Roberts is a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Glynn Archer Elementary School who has worked in the school district for over 20 years. She started her career as a paraprofessional during which time she earned her teaching credentials and became a classroom teacher where she has distinguished herself as an innovative instructor and educational leader.

Ms. Roberts fosters an environment where all children can engage in learning opportunities and grow academically, socially and emotionally. She sees herself not just as a master of reading, writing and arithmetic, but as one who inspires a love of learning. Principal Henry Boza states, “In each of her school-related positions, she brings a level of excellence and professionalism that is demonstrated daily.”

In addition to her classroom duties, she displays leadership as a member of her school Building Level Planning Team, Lesson Study Team, Video Production team leader, and serves as a mentor for new teachers. She has worked on district level tasks by lending her expertise to developing the mathematics curriculum and pacing guides and developing a district-wide writing rubric for the elementary levels. Her exceptional strengths in the area of mathematics afforded her the opportunity to work at the state level in developing and reviewing FCAT items. She is involved in community programs and has been recognized for her outstanding work with many school and district level awards throughout her career.

Dr. Jara states, “Ms. Roberts stands out as one of our best! Her classroom is full of energy and love for her children. Holli is an exceptional educator who is committed to meet the needs of ALL of her students. While tutoring students before and after school, she clearly communicates that her priority and love are her children. I am very proud of her outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence. We look forward to Ms. Roberts representing Monroe County in the state competition.”
