Student Progression Plan
Student Progression Plan - A
document containing all of the school district's academic guidelines
and expectations. It is reviewed annually and modified to reflect
our goals. State law requires all of Florida's 67 counties to
develop and maintain a comprehensive program for pupil progression.
The law was enacted by the Florida State Legislature as the
Educational Accountability Act of 1976 to establish testing
guidelines and standards to monitor and evaluate academic
performance in reading, writing, science, and mathematics for
students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Title I Corrective Action – Letter to Parents
All 67 public school districts in Florida are required to send a
Corrective Action Letter to all parents in their district. The Monroe County School District sent its letter to parents in January 2007. This action was necessary due to the fact that none of the 67 public school districts in Florida have been able to meet 100% of the adequate yearly progress criteria as required by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The Monroe County School District met 74% of the criteria and 40% of the Monroe County schools have met 100% of the criteria compared to the State of Florida average of 29%. (Link
