Monroe County School District is taking steps to reduce the spread of the flu virus in our schools. We are working closely with the Monroe County Health Department to monitor flu conditions and make decisions about the best steps to take concerning schools and our students. The information below will be updated with new information as it becomes available.

H1N1 Swine Flu is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. This new virus was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009. This virus is spreading from person-to-person worldwide, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread. On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) signaled that a pandemic of H1N1 Swine Flu was underway. (definition from Centers for Disease Control)
